If I’m Vulnerable, Will You Be vulnerable, too?
What happens when you open yourself up to vulnerability? When you sit beside someone that you’ve known for 10 years or 10 minutes and ask, “what do you want to share with me?” What happens when you really listen?
My work is often reflective of themes I find most pressing in my daily life. Throughout the three years in which these interviews took place, this has ranged from community grieving practices to compassionate teaching methods to queer history exploration. Whatever the topic, essential to my practice is intimate conversation. It’s sharing a piece of myself in hopes that you might share one back. It’s holding our shared truths gently and being open to whatever comes from our time together. This book of interviews are an extension of that practice.
